11/21/2008 Chad Johnson, WR (Cin) The Bengals failed to explain why Ocho Cinco was held out for violating team rules during their 27-10 loss in Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

Analysis: The decision to bench Ocho Cinco was announced about 10 hours before kickoff and the Bengals said they would give more details after the game, but coach Marvin Lewis declined to discuss it. “We deactivated him like we told you, and Chad will be back and should be fine and will hopefully get his treatment and be ready to go (Nov. 30 against Baltimore),'' Lewis said. Ocho Cinco apparently got into a dispute with a coach or coaches during a team meeting and was sent home.
11/21/2008 Turk McBride, DE (KC) The Chiefs placed McBride on injured reserve Thursday with a shoulder injury.

Analysis: McBride made nine starts in the Chiefs' first 10 games of the season, totaling 41 tackles, sixth-most on the team. The 2007 second-round pick out of Tennessee should return as a starter in 2009.
11/20/2008 Tom Santi, TE (Ind) Santi was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a shoulder injury, ending his season.

Analysis: Santi started two games this season, catching 10 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown, but the Colts are just fine with Dallas Clark at tight end.
11/20/2008 Earl Cochran, DE (Hou) Cochran was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a toe injury.

Analysis: Cochran, who had two sacks coming off the bench at end and tackle, suffered a torn ligament in his right big toe against Indianapolis last weekend.
11/20/2008 Nick Graham, CB (Ind) The Colts placed Graham on IR with a knee injury Wednesday, ending his season.

Analysis: Graham wasn't a factor for the Colts defense, dressing for four games and not recording a tackle.
11/20/2008 Patrick Kerney, DE (Sea) Kerney was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season. Kerney, the Seahawks' sack leader this season, missed the past three games with a shoulder injury. He had an exploratory operation on the shoulder in Alabama two weeks ago that did not reveal another torn labrum, which was good news at the time. But the injury didn't respond well enough to treatment or rehabilitation, and the decision was made to shut Kerney down, the Seattle Times reports.

Analysis: Kerney will definitely be missed on a Seahawks' defense that has struggled all season.
11/20/2008 Plaxico Burress, WR (NYG) Burress missed practice Thursday because of a hamstring injury. Coach Tom Coughlin was short in discussing Burress' injury, saying time would tell whether Burress plays Sunday against the Cardinals in Arizona.

Analysis: Burress has 35 catches for 454 yards and four touchdowns, but his receptions have declined steadily since catching 15 passes in the first two games. He has caught no more than three passes in the last five games, grabbing a total of 13 for 137 yards and two TDs in that span.
11/20/2008 Keith Bulluck, LB (Ten) Bulluck practiced Thursday for the first time since hurting a rib on Nov. 2.

Analysis: Bulluck cracked some cartilage holding a rib near his chest in the Titans' 19-16 overtime win Nov. 2 over Green Bay. He sat out practices but still played in wins at Chicago and at Jacksonville.
11/20/2008 Adrian Peterson, RB (Min) Peterson was held out of Thursday's practice. Coach Brad Childress says he decided the NFL's leading rusher needed a day to rest after taking plenty of hard hits in last week's game against Tampa Bay.

Analysis: This seems like a routine off day, and there's nothing to worry about regarding Peterson going into Sunday's game at Jacksonville. He's obviously a must-play every week, with 1,100 yards and seven touchdowns this season and the ability to put up huge numbers any given week.
11/20/2008 Brady Quinn, QB (Cle) Quinn broke his right index finger in the first half of Monday night's win over Buffalo, but will try to play Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Analysis: Quinn played with the injury for most of the game and went 14-of-36 for 185 yards in his second career start and first on the road, but he did complete a pair of passes to set up Phil Dawson's winning 56-yard field goal with 1:39 left. It's tough to say how the injured finger will affect him this weekend, but he does have a nice matchup against the Texans. Opposing quarterbacks have a 100.8 rating against Houston this season.
11/20/2008 Chad Mustard, TE (Den) The Broncos placed Jackson on injured reserve Thursday, bringing back Mustard to take his place on the roster.

Analysis: Mustard, a fifth-year tight end from North Dakota, has been waived numerous times in his NFL career, most recently by Denver on Nov. 4. The 6-foot-6, 277-pound Mustard has played in three games for the Broncos this season.
11/20/2008 Nate Jackson, TE (Den) The Broncos placed Jackson on injured reserve Thursday, bringing back Chad Mustard to take his place on the roster.

Analysis: Jackson injured his right hamstring in practice Wednesday. He appeared in 10 games this season, catching 11 passes for 84 yards and one touchdown.
11/20/2008 Greg Camarillo, WR (Mia) Camarillo's breakout year with the Miami Dolphins has earned him a new contract. Camarillo signed a $6 million, three-year extension Thursday that keeps him under contract through 2011.

Analysis: He leads the Dolphins with 49 receptions for 538 yards and one touchdown after catching a total of eight passes in his first two NFL seasons.
11/20/2008 Chad Johnson, WR (Cin) Ocho Cinco, the wide receiver formerly known as Chad Johnson, will be deactivated for Thursday night's game with the Pittsburgh Steelers for violating a team rule. The Bengals did not specify the violation and said there would be no further comment until after the game.

Analysis: Ocho Cinco had ankle surgery in June and a shoulder injury in August and has not been as involved in the Bengals' offense as much as previous years.
11/19/2008 Jared Allen, DE (Min) The NFL told Vikings coach Brad Childress on Wednesday that Allen will not be suspended for a spate of late hits.

Analysis: Instead, the league will fine Allen $25,000 and not punished further. Allen was summoned to the league office Tuesday and went with defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. He was fined $50,000 for two late hits earlier this month on Houston quarterback Matt Schaub, one that injured his knee. He was called for roughing the passer the next week against Green Bay after knocking down Aaron Rodgers.
11/19/2008 Mike Karney, RB (NO) Karney will miss Monday's home game with Green Bay because of his knee injury.

Analysis: Karney has 7 yards on four carries and has caught seven passes for 12 yards in eight games this season. He has rushed for 76 yards and five touchdowns in 71 career games. Karney has also caught 51 passes for 289 yards and two TDs.
11/19/2008 Darian Barnes, RB (NO) Barnes signed with the Saints on Wednesday, replacing an injured Aaron Stecker. New Orleans is without starting fullback Mike Karney for at least another week. In his career, Barnes has 10 rushing yards and 16 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Analysis: This is the ninth team Barnes has played for since signing with the New York Giants in 2002 as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton.
11/19/2008 Aaron Stecker, RB (NO) The Saints placed Stecker on injured reserve, and he will miss the remainder of the season. Stecker had rushed for 43 yards and caught eight passes for 52 yards. He ran for a career-high 448 yards last season after injuries to Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush.

Analysis: Stecker, who has battled hamstring problems since the first week, is the 13th New Orleans player on injured reserve. He aggravated his hamstring on a 12-yard catch early in the first quarter Sunday at Kansas City. The Saints replaced Stecker with free-agent fullback Darian Barnes.
11/19/2008 Matt Hasselbeck, QB (Sea) Hasselbeck returned to practice after sitting out a day and appears to be on track to start against the Redskins on Sunday.

Analysis: "I thought it went OK today, it was a step," Hasselbeck said Thursday. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback missed Wednesday's practice, taking an extra day to recover from his first game back in six weeks - a loss to Arizona on Sunday. Hasselbeck, who was out with a nerve problem in his right leg caused by a bulging disk in his back, was 17-of-29 for 170 yards with one touchdown, three interceptions and a 47.3 QB rating Sunday.
11/19/2008 Brian Johnston, DE (KC) Johnston, a rookie who'd been playing in place of injured starters, was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury and is gone for the year.
